APES Shelter & Rescue Website Update and Adoption Process Tweaks
19/06/2025
š Exciting Updates to the APES Shelter & Rescue Website! š
Dear Friends and Supporters,
Weāre always looking for ways to improve your experience with APES Shelter & Rescue, and today weāre pleased to share some important updates to our adoption process to make it smoother, fairer, and more cost-effective for everyone involved.
š¹ Adoption Process Changes
You will notice that the āAdoptā button is no longer active on our website. Why? We now keep the adoption application form on hold until all checks and vetting have been successfully completed. This ensures that only fully approved adopters can take their new furry family member home, making the process more transparent and secure.
š¹ Simpler and Cheaper Adoption Fees
Due to some checks taking up to 60 days, weāve made a change to our reservation fee. Instead of the previous monthly payments, you now pay a single fee of Ā£30 for the entire duration of the adoption process, replacing the old Ā£20 monthly fee. This new structure not only simplifies the payment process but also makes adopting more affordable for you.
š¹ Streamlined Adoption StepsāFrom Today
Hereās whatās new in our adoption process:
a. Reserve your chosen animal ā Start by selecting your preferred pet and reserving them.
b. Application screening ā Our team will send you a full adoption form to assess your applicationās suitability.
c. Review & checks ā We review your form, and if needed, run ID and DBS checks. Returning adopters have a year from their initial DBS check to reapply without a new check.
d. Vetting if necessary ā Additional checks will be conducted as needed.
e. Finalise your adoption ā Sign the adoption agreement and settle any fees.
f. Bring your new family member home ā Enjoy your new addition!
⨠Our Goal
We hope these updates will make adopting a pet with APES Shelter & Rescue simpler, quicker, and even more budget-friendly. Our priority is to ensure every animal finds a caring and suitable home, while making the process clear and stress-free for you.
Thank you for your continued support and dedication to animal welfare. If you have any questions or wish to start your adoption journey, visit our website or contact us directly.

From Struggles to Snuggles: Raptorās Remarkable Journey to His Dream Home š¦āØ
Meet Raptor, the extraordinary bearded dragon whose story is a testament to hope, dedication, and the power of compassionate care. Recently adopted by a genuinely caring family, Raptorās journey from hardship to happiness is truly heartwarming and inspiring for all animal lovers.
It all began when his new family first discovered Ichoris, the original name he was given upon arrival on our APES website. It was love at first sight. They immediately felt a connection and knew they wanted to give this special dragon a second chance at life. Their commitment didnāt stop there; they dedicated themselves to learning everything they could about caring for exotic animals, making sure they could provide a loving, secure, and stimulating environment for Raptor to thrive.
Raptor arrived at our rescue in March of last year, and his condition reflected the tough beginning heād endured. He was covered in thick, stubborn shed around his face and ears, which caused him discomfort and difficulty. His teeth were in poor condition, making eating a challenge, and it was clear he needed medical attention and lots of TLC to turn his life around.
Thanks to our passionate staff, Raptor received the care he desperately needed. Our team worked tirelessly to remove the shed, improve his dental health, and create a comfortable space for him to recover. Over time, with thoughtful attention and patience, Raptor started to flourish. His skin cleared, his teeth improved, and he became a more active and alert dragon, ready for the next chapter of his life.
The transformation of Raptor is a shining example of what dedicated rescue work and loving caretakers can achieve. Today, he is a happy, vibrant companion, cherished by his new family who have gone above and beyond to give him the life he deserves. Itās a reminder that even those who start their lives battling adversity can find happiness and love with the right support.
We at APES CIC are thrilled to see Raptor so loved and well-cared-for, and we feel inspired by stories like his. Every animal we help is a testament to our mission ā to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome exotic species, giving them the care they need and the loving homes they deserve.
If youāre inspired by Raptorās story and want to help animals like him, consider supporting our work. Whether through donations, volunteering, or spreading awareness, your involvement can make a real difference.
