APES CIC Rolls Out New Security Measures to Protect Personal Data
APES CIC has introduced new security measures to protect personal data. Staff and volunteers will now carry ID badges, while calls, tickets and chats will be verified through updated systems to ensure we’re speaking with the right person.
We've put some guardrails in place starting now; every member of our team, including volunteers and students, will carry ID badges. Simple. Effective. Helps everyone know you’re not chatting with a cardboard cut-out.
Calls coming through our lines? You’ll be asked to confirm your name, address, and either your date of birth or a PIN. A little extra effort, but it keeps the right hands on your info.
Ticketed requests, whether for appointments or queries, will need to pass through our online verification system. Same for chat support. Not because we don’t trust you, but because we trust our data more when it’s properly verified.
Why it matters
In a world where data moves fast and cacophony looms large, securing information isn’t just bureaucratic box-ticking. It’s about making sure you’re speaking to us—and we’re speaking to you. It lowers the risk of miscommunication, misdirection, or mischief.
What APES is doing
- Issuing ID badges to all staff, including volunteers and students.
- Implementing call verification via name, address, and DOB or PIN.
- Launching an online ticket verification system.
- Bringing chat queries into the same verification fold.
How you can help
- Bear with us when we ask for verification. It slows things down a hair—but your privacy stays put.
- Familiarise yourself with the new process before calling or chatting. It’s smoother than guesswork, in the long run.
- Share this news with fellow APES supporters, so nobody’s caught off guard.
